I was detecting along a creek on my property and found these 2 iron stakes, each with a 1 in. width and almost a foot in length, laying side by side. They could also be some type of chisel I guess. I found the threaded bolt object at least 12 yards down stream from the stakes. It has an eyelet at the top and threads that go down with a nut screwed onto it. Does anybody know what the stakes or the bolt might have been part of/used for?

possibly used in the construction of a wooden bridge if there was one near by at one time

I think you may be right, because they are very similar to ones I've seen on the internet. I have also noticed that there are three little nocks going down the edges of the spikes.

I found a couple of these and somebody thought they were used to split limestone into straight pieces. Google "plug and feather" - the ones on Wikipedia look a little more like chisels than these but it said there are variations.

I've found a number of those spikes in town here. Been told by locals that they are R.R. spikes from the early 1900's. They look identical, but could have been used for other things.
