Hello fellow treasure hunters...I'm new, as of late last night...I got my first metal detector in late fall (great timing) right before snow hit...however I did find a few treasures...one being a "President" suspender piece-I didn't know what it was, which is how I came upon this site...the other night I caught the last few minutes of the show "Diggers"(which is also a new find- couldn't sleep), but I was so excited because they had all the finds the two fellows had collected and some kind of "appraiser" or something guy there who picked what he thought was the "coolest" find or maybe his criteria was something different...anyways, he picked that President suspender thing and that was exactly what I had found, so I not only now knew what it was, but then when I went to learn more about it I found this site-ya-hoo! ....so enough with the writing. My other treasure that I have no clue about is....this is where I am attempting to add photos...hope it works...and I'm sure someone on here knows what this is...

It does sort of resemble one of those Rizzla automatic rollers, but not exactly. Not sure how it would operate since the middle part doesn't open. Maybe a case for cigarettes and papers? Roll em and drop them inside so you had some ready to go.

The only markings I'm able to see are the design on the top of it...I think you can see that in one of the pics. I haven't tried to clean it at all...it seems to be, I'm not sure of the term, maybe silver plated, but I'm new at this, it seems real glossy in some spots and rust in other spots. Is there something I could clean with that would make it so I could see any writing or date? Thanks for your help.

A question....if I reply to a persons post down on the right bottom does that go just to that person or to the thread? I noticed the orange "reply to thread" thing there on the bottom left and now I'm confused...

I guess they both post to the thread?

They both reply to the thread, one is a quick-post method and the other has more advanced posting options

Hey it's a baby wipes dispenser from the early 1700's. :idea1:
I can't see tobacco easily coming out of that but I can see it as holding a liquid and a cloth for women to wash their faces or holding some type of moisturizer and cleaning pad.

Does anyone know how to research this item...I'm quite curious about it...

Looks like some sort of coin purse/metal wallet to me. The bills go in the clasp on top, while the change goes through the slot into the container. What do you think?

I agree with cigarette roller and case. The rectangular hole is where the roller wheel would have been.
