bushings are mechanical parts used in machinery, here is an example

Maybe the eyepiece from an old pirate style telescope.... wish I could see it better and from more angles.

it could a piece of a beryllium bushing so no sanding or wire brushing

They are made of Brass , Copper allows and the sort. It is used mostly as a guide bearing and or a thrust bearing on light to medium load items .
The one that was found could have been used on many things , from an auto to house hold items . You see them in all kinds of machines too door knobs .

i think your right loooks like a knob bushing for a cabinet or door
