Does 14 carat gold tarnish, check this watch back out

i;m no expert but i'm pretty sure it doesn't dull like that. HH Awesome find too.
 

It might have only been gold plated, but 14k is only 58.3% gold and the other metals ( nickel, copper, silver and zinc) could be what the tarnish is from?
 

Yes, 14k can tarnish. As Back-of-the-boat pointed out, that is only 58.3% gold. Other metals in the alloy could include copper, silver, and a host of other metals. Most of those will tarnish to some degree. Yours looks like a substantial amount of copper.

Time for more coffee.
