Do You Think Anti-Gun Groups Would Freak Over This 1955 Underwear Ad If It Ran Today? | TheBlaze.com

Considering that a group of young boys were just suspended from school for an entire year after they were seen playing with toy guns on private property…imagine the outrage that might ensue from those same corners if this underwear ad were to run today:

The Jockey underwear company ran this ad that reportedly first appeared in magazines very briefly (pun intended) back in the mid 1950s.

Aside from the fact that the youngster was incorrectly handling what appears to be a very real-looking firearm (some posts call it a toy gun) — his finger is on the trigger, and you never do that until you are ready to shoot — the woman presumed to be the boy’s mother is shown smiling in the background.

The ad copy extols the strength of Jockey’s junior briefs and how they “keep their fit – wash after wash! Special elastic waistband never droops, never sags, for it’s guaranteed for the life of the garment.”

A magazine page featuring this ad was also spotted on eBay – currently with an opening bid of $5.99 – although no bidding had taken place at the time of this posting.

So, do you suppose anti-gun groups would go apoplectic after getting an eyeful of this little shooter in a magazine today? Or have times indeed changed?

DS you already know the whining you would here.

We grew up with toy guns, some were very realistic looking too. I had Roy Rogers pistols, Lone Ranger pistols, Paladin derringer just to name a few. After them came BB guns.

Those BB's will put your eye out !!!

Well, they probably did a couple, but I still have mine :)

My brother restores cap pistols, does a great job and has a large china cabinet full of them displayed. We used to pick up pop bottles off the roadside and get 2 cents each deposit. He saved up like $5 for a top of the line holster and gun set. He was king of the neighborhood after that. But then we got the BB rifles and had battles. One day he shot cousin Billy, and Billy & I nailed him repeatedly as he ran away. Cousin Billy and I were the best buds, and older brother was always our nemesis....

I always wanted a Paladin derringer. and of course Josh Randall's shortened Winchester "mare's leg".....

TH, I guess that's because we were raised as war mongerers and gun freaks - following the examples our WWII parents set when a soldier was a hero to us....

I could go on a rant about the newer generations, but I'm sure they'll be hitting us about the BB gun fights here pretty soon when they wake up & powder their noses.....

Henry Big Boy Mare's Leg

This guys cracks me up!!

I WANT ONE!!!!

Oh the sheeple would surely protest such a scary ad if it ran today.. I for one would not purchase such briefs but not because of the ad, but because I like loose fitting waist bands... I also keep my finger on the trigger, because that is where it belongs. If you do not have control of your finger muscles to the point where you could accidentally discharge your weapon, you shouldn't have one in the first place... Too much crap about safety these days, not enough common sense. I don't need to be taught where to carry, how to carry, where to point. In other words, ( I GOT THIS)

Think the gun is a Mattel "Fanner 50". Interesting ad, but that ain't his eye that kid is about to shoot...
