An earlier post got me thinking back to my first found point..what a feeling! I thought it would be nice too see some others and here the stories. I found my first point after spending a long time hoping and hoping. I was sifting with a funny little screen I put together using a plastic laundry basket; It was only about ten inches wide and very crooked..ha ha. I still have it. Here is the one and only.

Yup..that will do it! Great stuff guys

yup T Witko i remember those

i still have my first point...a KRF side notch almost two inches long
now i can't find it..gotta be in a cigar box someplace
i still have my 1rst KRF scraper a good one i found at double ditch indian village along along with some pottery pcs
scraper found about 1960
point found about 1965

Found my first one when I was 7. Just a plain woodland, nothing special, laying face up along a dirt trail in the woods my friends and I used to go to our "hide out".

Found out years later my Dad planted it there for me to find, it worked.....been an avid relic hunter ever since.

That's pretty cool...how long did he wait to tell you? He knew what he was doing..that's cool

Larson..if you decide to look for it I would love to see it.

hey Gator man
i will start lookin'
my first point had a little chip of impact damage on the tip
and after giving some extra thought on the subject,...i am gonna look in my upstairs of my garage.
i think my first KRF scraper is upstairs in my garage
i am thinking this may be a good thread if we can get it going...maybe a few stories of how we find these when we are young.
then many years later we discover that they are way much cooler than we ever thought would be
look what i was told to do it

exactly..that's what I was hoping.you might find something you forgot you had too.

I found this point almost 30 years ago, I was 17 at the time. I had moved out of my parents house but returned to pick up my motorcycles and help clean the shop. found it laying next to one of my bikes. Forgot about it until I started finding pieces in my garden and around the property, I got lucky and found it in a trunk I had not opened in years.

Reaper ..after seeing at least a portion of your extensive collection it says alot about how meaningful all of it is to you that you were able to so easily share your first find with us. I'm honored. Thanks. "Bill"

My first artifact wasn't a point. I remember helping my granddaddy pick up potatoes when I found this "pee-dab" better known as game stone.

I was about 5 years old. I have only found two since then. My first point was found the following week end. I was with my dad. He has the best eye I've ever seen in the game. After handing him a million jagged rocks , he said. "you finally found one" when I handed this to him in question.

And he was right! Nice one

Stick with it you will. Our area of Florida is very very difficult. If you ever get a chance to head up the state close to where the chert outcrops are its much easier.however..there is some beautiful agateized coral down our way most of which came from the Tampa bay area.
