Dear Equipment Dealers, Customers, fellow Prospectors, Miners, Prospecting and Mining Clubs, Organizations et al.
We are now faced with critical times due to Legislation put forth by special Interest groups. Millions of dollars are paid to Senators, Legislators and lawmakers to see that these groups and their agenda’s are forced on the will of people without proper representation.
Keene Engineering has been the leader in suction dredge and mining equipment for over 60 years. We know SB-670 is going to have a big impact on the economy of California as well as all of our dealers not located in California.
These special interest groups want to end mining and our freedoms to use our public lands. We all must stand up for our rights and ensure that our children have the same rights we have had. While many groups and organizations are slowly allowing our rights to be bargained away in negotiations, Public Lands for the People, and a few others, have remained steadfast in protecting our rights in this fight.
Here is the latest information regarding SB-670, Anti Suction Dredging Legislation.
As expected, the Bill passed the Assembly today in a vote of 63 to 11. The Bill must go back to the Senate to approve the amendments and there is 72 hours to do this. The Assembly wants the Bill effective immediately. Although canceling dredge permits retroactively would be against state law, we'll have to wait and see what they do. We do foresee that, at a minimum, they will stop issuing new permits. At the end of the day, if the state enacts a law that is in conflict with federal law allowing dredging, technically, the federal law takes priority and would cancel the state's law, again we would have to wait and see what they do.
The Governor must veto this Bill and PLP is in the process of filing a legal brief to prove the illegality of signing this Bill. However, keep in mind that if the Governor does not veto the Bill, the Legislature can still override the veto. This is why the Orange postcards are so critical and we need you to respond right away.

Orange postcards are in the mail to you now and are in essence your voice to be heard. Please do your part and return the cards immediately. If you need more cards please contact Patrick Keene at (818) 993-0441 or by email at pat@keeneeng. com

:tongue3: The cows outta the barn, been slaughtered, steaks on the barbie and ya wanta get up offn' your butt when it's tooooooooooooo damn late.Ya'all have blathered ALL OR NUTTN' FOR YEARS!! Now howz that taste in your mouth!!The courts ruled already---states bankrupt and shuts down 3 fridays a month and Arnie has to cut costs and we need 5 years and $10 million(cdfg & fs)--ya right---the legal precedent has been set in stone now for all states to use to ban dredging everywhere.GO DREDGING LIKE THERE'S NO TOMMORROW-- :dontknow: John

You got what you paid for. You let those environmentalist put these laws on the books and vote for them unopposed for how long? Now you want us to pull you out of a jam that was under your nose for how long?

I don't live in your state and told you to speak up now or shut up for ever if you let these greener's get away with this. Now is the time for you to take the state to federal court for over riding federal mining laws. The miners are NOT the problem here. We have been in the legislators sessions for ever trying to stop this type of stuff from happening. I did not see you there. Talk to PLP about taking the state to court. That is the ONLY option that you have now.

If Keene wants my action, then they need to be standing elbow to elbow with me and my fellow miners when the fight starts. Not when the bad ass law has already been past.

You live in that state and should have heard all the noise from the miners in your state over the past years with this type of politicking going on long before now. Excuse me Mr.Keene for not being sympathetic to your dilemma while waiting for the dam to burst before saying there is a problem here.

The problem was here for years and now it's up to YOU to join US on the idea of how to handle it. I'm not waiting any more for the type of people(like you) who wait till the last damn minute to ask me to join you. Time to face forward and see all of us miners are WAY OUT in front of you on this issue.

You speak up when the miners stop buying dredges because their shut out of the river. You were told that your business WILL suffer if we get shut out of the river and stop buying dredges because of it. I live in a state north of you. Come up here to do business and listen to the miners when you sell dredges here and be well informed before the dam brakes.

All laws can be changed. No law is permanent. It just takes money to buy off the corrupt govt officials. Eventually it will get ugly out there. People have had enough of liars and thieves...I mean our elected officials.

Our local MO chapters of the GPAA have been sending funds to Calif/Oregon for the past 4yrs to help fight what has been going on.Unless the people unite like they have against the healthcare, you won't be able to even show a kid how the old timers used a pan.The kids won't even be able to go crawdaddin' or pick up a arrowhead before long.We gotta get the bloodsuckers out of office and put someone who has gottin' a little bit of dirt on them as a kid.

WESTERN MINING COUNCIL( now closed) was active since 1972 or so and I've been at it ever since with this damn politics-DREDGE--SCREW'M-John

Yea,it blows my mind that Keene, only kicked in $5000!!!!Come on whats that one dredge? They do make a good product but they rape you for it and I think there contribution is laughable.
