Do you suspect this piece is from a cannon? Could it read "Low Moor" as in Low Moor Iron Company?

could bow moor --be short for bow moor (ing) line--- like a brass eyelet for a mooring line or such -- (photos would assist greatly needless to say.) or at least a general ideal of what it is and is made of.

BigCypressHunter, here's a small (only 1.67kb) token of appreciation for your nearly-innumerable contributions to the What Is It forum... another "image" you can use whenever it's needed. I found it in a civil war relics Can-You-ID forum, long ago. But I've got to say, the photo you posted is much cuter. :)
