I buy as much as i can but they are hard to find. As far as I know ARA will still do a batch but John wants 500 grams. I did a batch a couple years ago and I am up to 300 grams or so right now.

Everything has to be torn down. all plastic, springs, steel has to be tossed.

I just paid $1 for a GF ladies watch. case and band are GF. I probably made $2-3

I don't normally mess around with it. I do like jnkhntr comment, seems from him it sometimes maybe worth it. :notworthy:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

I buy it if I can get it for little to nothing. One note though, when it comes to many gold filled items such as fobs, pendants, pins and pens always check the completed listings on ebay before tossing them in the scrap pile. Many of them are worth more than their scrap value.

I always buy GF stuff. As others said, try to get it as cheap as possible. Often it gets overlooked, which makes it almost as easy to find as sterling items.

I've sold old GF watch cases plus other GF items on eBay before. I'm adding a little to a new pile I've started now. You can find broken watches that have 10K, 14K GF cases and make a profit if you buy at the right price. The bigger the watch case the more gold it will have. The ones that say 20 year and 30 year are the best. I know one scrap buyer that will give about the same price per gram as sterling for GF scrap. I can do better selling on ebay. The folks that have bought my scrap all look like they do recovery also. I know this by what else they buy in the way of recovery supplies. This is recent GF sales on the Bay
