Agreed, it depends on soil conditions, I know I don't get as much out of my minelab in Arizona as I do in Northern Wi, where the soil isn't as compact & is wetter.
 

Im in southern Missouri where there seems to be more rocks than soil. :laughing7: So will your actual depth always be a little less than what the air test will show?
 

It seems mineralization can reduce depth 40% or so. Rocky and hilly ground usually has mineralization. An Ace 250, like many other detectors will ID down to about 4" in my soil. HH, George (MN)
