just on the off chance the person who was detecting at edgewood in commack is on this board........

please don't leave huge gaping holes with mangled beercans in the bottom right in plain sight.

man, that gives everyone a bad image. must of been using a garden spade.
I did my best to fill holes but the dirt was spread out , was difficult.
man I hate that

Thank you. You helped us all by at least trying to fill them back in. Wouldn't you like to catch the guy in the act... read him the riot act.. >:(

:-\ Ralph, I hope you catch the guy, just taking care of our own holes is enough work without having to clean up behind some nut job. Thanks for "Doing The Right Thing" and filling in his holes. It means a lot to all of us...

I havent come across that ....yet.....but I'd sure tell someone if I caught em!

I was driving around Tacoma Washington Last year and went to a neighborhood park Saw some guy using a hammer claw to dig with tried to tell him about using a garden shovel but I could nbot get him to listen

I took my wife's ... lol works great

a hammer? thats a new one to me

Even when I'm 4 miles back in the woods digging lumbercamps I fill my holes in. Ive been digging a mining village close to my home and someone else left large holes uncovered. I thought about making a sign with FILL YOUR HOLES IN. I may still do it this fall if I find more holes when I go back.

That's too bad....every hobby/sport has its share of "slobs". I'd contact the park manager & explain what you found & the fact that you tried to repair someone elses damage. Atleast they'll know it isn't you causing it, and maybe they can give the guy a warning if he shows back up.

I'm glad there are folks like you who'll go out of their way to help.

Hey....why not bury a can with a "Go to He.." note and instructions on how to restore the hole?

Maybe he'd get the hint. Naw, he'd just wad up the note, throw it and the can on the ground and go dig another hole!

Then you should have claaed the police or someone from Parks to make sure this jerk didn't do it again. These people absolutely ruin it for any person with a metal detector close because we are all grouped together when its bad!!

Hey Ralph, That same guy must have hit the school yard out east by me. I went there on Sunday and there were at least 40 holes. Like 3 in dia, 3 in deep. Loose dirt everywhere. I filled them in. Hope he stays away. Ruined my day.

What's so hard about putting dirt back in a hole? If you dig a plug right and tamp it back no one will ever know you was there. That is if the grass don't turn brown. I've dug enough holes and believe me, I'm picky about my yard I can't even find where I dug.

I even fill my holes out in the pastures, and I was just wondering today why am I digging with a digger (harder on your hands & arms) when I could had used a shovel. ;D You know why? I have respect for my cows...I don't want them breaking a leg. I have respect for property too rather it's mine or someone else's.

So this "looney" who is leaving the open holes must have a open hole in his head. Ralph, I hope you say something to him if you catch him and thank you for doing the dirty work for him.

;) RR

the chances of its being the same guy are slim to none, same odds as to catching him. I was just hoping they might be reading this board.

These holes where huge... rectangular holes about 15 inches x10 inches, that's why I think he must of had a shovel, the ground is really hard there.

It was my first time there.

Hi all This chopperJoe, about the ( the person ) who ever the person is all I can say is I hope I don't (CATCH) him.. if I do .. he will be in the HOLE !!! ;D ;D 8) 8)
