Dirt

I am pretty sure you can buy buckets of dirt at Mt Creek gold mine in New London NC, You can also buy them at Cotton Patch. Its cheaper if you bring your own buckets.. I would think you could buy a scoop load of dirt for 20 to 25 dollars at Thermal city, or Lucky Strike then load it into buckets. It couldnt hurt to shoot them an email and ask..

Salted means they add gold to the material your working. So its not really luck they know what and how much gold you are going to find. From what I hear they buy the gold from Australia , Alaska or they pre-measure gold bearing concentrates from there property and add it it to the material that they run over and over again. So they have a real good idea of whats in that pile of dirt. The up side of this kinda operation is your gonna find gold every time. The downside is it will never be more than they want it to be.. And that will never be a lot... just enough to keep customers comming back...

I see that does have a good and bad side to it.. and i suppose they keep any nuggets they find in that pre runned material? that would suck ...

thank you for the explination.

(( makes a note of the weather today .. grrr 45 now 50's tops .. brrr that is getting cold now))

I have bought a few bags of "Felixs' Paydirt" just to check it out and compare it to the small gold I have found. I must say that there's a good amount of pickers in a $35 bag. And if they salt them (more than likely) they do a darn good job at it. It gives you something to do when it's 0' out and there's 2 feet of snow on the ground. And it's fun to just see and compare the differences in the gold itself. Pretty reasonable. Felix is getting ready to market the "motherload" special now that has selected bags that are salted with 1 OZ. nuggets! Check out the website for more info. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks that is definatly an option. although i have only found flakes but those small flakes have BIG hooks ..hehe now i am Hooked and a flake is a flake.. i have not found a true picker or nugget yet .. but i know it is out there so i shall endure untill it shines bright in my pan. (( then i can laugh at my neighbors for calling me a Gold Digger .. )) hehe all in good fun though.

the last time i went out i did not find but 9 flakes.. rather disappointing .. but i did move up the creek and down it as well so i will have to shift and maybe do a lil better prospecting to make sure i am in the pay streak ..

I also have been keeping my fine stuff after panning it .. for those rainy days maybe find a few i over looked.

Thanks again

Hoggtyed,
Its kinda like playing the slots, put in a few dollars and they give you a couple back, just enough to keep your hopes up.
