I have run into some areas that have a lot of rock under the soil. So much that its almost like a gravel pit.

Can anyone share some good digging tool links or brands that they think are great for digging?

It seems that Lesche makes some good stuff. But there are others I am sure. Some of this stuff seems like gimmicks. Looks good on paper, but doesn't work good in the field, or is cheaply made.

What works good for you?

Predator is a good name. If you don't have a need for a large shovel you can look at their hand held diggers at the below link.

I went through quite a few cheap diggers before breaking down and buying a Gator digger (no longer made) and I used that digger in rocky soil for over twenty years. I still have and use it for yard work. I have moved up to better brands for detecting.

That's what I was saying in my original post. George Lesche makes the tools (his wife Pam is the Persident) of Preditor.

I was just wondering if they were the only one's. If they are the best, thats what I want. Thanks for the input. The shovel looks like a good tool.

Hey Dan! Here's another one of those ObiWan things, bro.

Now forgotten to all but us oldtimers is the Wilcox line of diggers. Half the price of the Lesche/Preds, I am still using my very first one, a Wilcox 102. I have never heard of one breaking and Ed Fedory once said that the 102 was the one tool he would never be without. I share his devotion. Shop around, too, the deals are still out there.

Here's a link so you know what Im talking about:
