Relic Hunting
I am always hesitant to tag a site as a “virgin” camp or site until we have hunted it several times. It’s just wishful thinking to dig 7 or 8 relics and call it a “virgin site”. However, the picket camp that I first hunted on 2-11 is obviously a virgin site. I talked to the landowners and a fishing friend who has lived on the adjacent property over 30 years. To their knowledge, nobody had ever dug a CW bullet there on the 168 acre farm. To date, we have dug 178 relics in a concentrated area there. Doug & I hunted it again for 3 hours this morning. He wore one of his famous lucky green golf shirt but this one has stripes. Hide your children’s eyes if they watch the video-LOL. Doug’s best find was a nice flower button with gold gilt & my best find was a cuff size GS eagle button with intact shank. That’s the first cuff size eagle button we have dug there. Josh couldn’t go as he was getting ready for his daughter’s 7[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday party. We call her “Boo”. Happy Birthday Miss Peyton!!! Enjoy the video and Happy hunting from the Tennessee Trio, Quindy. Nana, I think we missed you & Lisa on the shout out but you know we love the Bama Gals. My CW Relics for 2014= 217

Update: Upon Cleaning, 2 of my bullets had significant carving on them.

Good stuff Yall....................

I'm the guy you forgot to give a shout out to. Just in case you didn't know, my part of New Jersey is below the Mason Dixon Line, born and raised south of the line. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Q, you've made ANOTHER great video. I've tried my hand at a few videos, and it's more than a notion to get the photos and the words to the song together the way you do. I love the song, and really L-O-V-E the Johnny Reb pic of you; it was most authentic. I'm expecting to see it on a mag cover. You and Dman made another goodly haul! Doug, you do stripes well! :tongue3:

:)

You're right! I'm mad. How could you forget your favorite Bama girls? :dontknow: Just kiddin'. I don't know how you all stand there and hold a conversation much less call off most everyone on our email list. :laughing9: You turn the camera on me and I don't even know what my name is....and don't ask me what kind of bullet that is. hahahaha
Especially loved this video and pics, Q but someone needs to go back and replace that poor flag. :( Make sure and be there next time to video Burt in speedo's.
:laughing7: Love all the relics but extra like that flower button! 8-)

WTG ya'll!

:hello:Nana

:thumbsup:Seems the videos get better each time. If Dman does wear his speedos next time, Mr. Q......Puhlease pick up his finds for him!

Thanks Breezie. As you know, I'm not a re-enactor but bought that outfit back in 1997 when I was on the Battle of Hartsville Preservation Committee. I was just glad I could fit into it-LOL. I do still smell the powder burning as you do and always will.
As to Doug & stripes, he really needs to be in an orange jumpsiut with "Property of .... Police Dept. on the back" HH, Q.

Nana, I thought we mentioned your nane but realized we didn't when I loaded the video. I knew we were in trouble then-LOL. Better study the bullet book as I'm giving you & Lisa another test the next time we go hunting together. HH & tell Charlie & Bruce "Hay", Q.

OD, if he does, I won't be there to pick up anything-LOL. Thanks for looking Bud & HH, Doug & Q.

I thought about taking Boo this morning and coming for the 3 hour hunt.... But did not want to be in the dog house... Doug said he was on chapter 7 of my recovering relics and identifying relics... Chapter 7 says hunt the west end of camp... You guys did pretty good on the west end... Josh

We all love you too Guys. Nice productive hunt.
Is Doug's shirt celery color or iceberg lettuce? :dontknow:

XOXO,
MM

Hey Quindy , looks like another successful hunt ,nice group of relics ... and loved the video keep um coming !

You guys never cease to amaze me. Looks like another excellent hunt. Doug is not only the "most interesting relic hunter alive" but he is also the best dressed. I'm surprised that he doesn't wear patent leather shoes when he hunts. We will ride up the road when we get back and see if we can't dig some of dem old mammy balls.....Good job on the video, I enjoyed it!

Sweet hunt guys! Must be nice to hunt a never-before-hunted spot!

Thanks for all the replies Guys & Gals. Compared to other CW sites, this one has a high number of whittled & carved bullets. They are running about 5% so far with 4 carved nipple protectors. Somebody liked to carve in that Union camp. HH, Q.
