Relic Hunting
With the temp at 70 degrees, I had to go hunting. Doug was busy in his store and Josh was still resting from working last night, I made a solo trip to a large U.S. camp. I decided to check a field we had lightly hunted before with limited results. It produced only 2 fired bullets and WW2 maneuvers relics.
My F75 had a good signal when our friend the landowner stopped by to visit and see if I had dug anything exciting. While he was there, I dug the signal and it was a dropped bullet. When he headed home, I started digging campfire lead. As you can see on the Doug Snyder “Relic Rag”, I dug a lot of campfire lead. Along with that lead, I dug 5 dropped Type III Williams Cleaner bullets, one .56 cal. Colt Revolving Rifle bullet, & a pistol ball. My finds since 11-25 at the same site are shown on the black background. Dig that campfire lead! Enjoy the video.

Way to go Quindy on finding all of those dropped bullets & campfire lead. I enjoyed the video and thanks for the 'shout-out.'
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your family!

Nice digs. I am looking forward to digging in Jan. and beyond. lol

Nice of the guys to let you have a hunt by yourself. I think those paintings are some of the best CW depictions around. Great amount of lead Mr Q. Merry Christmas to the 3 of you and your families.

Yet another good little hunt. How many Williams cleaners have you dug there? Make the most of that place while you can, there has to be some pits there too. Loved the video and hope you make many more.

No doubt. The guys who find the best stuff, dig it all!

Nice solo hunt Mr. Q! Also enjoyed the CW paintings and Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas to the Tenn. Trio!!

Thanks JB & to answer your questions:
1. Union bullets came pre-packaged for a quick load. They had pre-measured powder appropriate for the bullet wrapped in paper (for 3 ring bullets) and tied to the bottom ring with a string. You've seen the CW soldiers in movies bite the end of the paper and pour the powder down the barrel, start the bullet into the barrel, and ram it to the bottom before installing a percussion cap. During inclement & wet weather, they would take a bullet with pre-packaged powder, bite off the end and pour the powder on some kindling & light it to get a fire going. With no powder for the bullet, they threw it in the fire or nearby.
2. I use Windows Live Movie Maker to format the movies for You Tube.
Merry Christmas my friend!

Your are cleaning up on the Cleaner bullets Quindy! Here's to a mild winter and lots of brass!

Darn Quindy, I didn't realize that you had found that many Williams cleaners in that camp! Don't you know that it's cleaned out.

Come on, you 2! It's pretty apparent you guys are sitting on just about the best CW site in the Volunteer State. We aren't all dummies here on TNet. You can stop all that " hunted out " stuff, lol.

Thanks for saving some more Tennessee history, enjoyed the video
as usual, keep-em coming...GO VOLS

nice digs Q.I don't think I have ever seen such a nice collection of cleaners bullets.I wish you guys a Merry Christmas over there in Tenn.-HH
