I have been splitting time between the Etrac and Legend. Until today, I had not dug what I consider a "super deep" coin with the Legend. Many coins in the 7 to 8 inch deep range and I was beginning to think that was the limit in my ground. Today I got a "whisp" of a signal that would not repeat from different angles. The pinpoint audio was broken and I sort of had to guess the signal's location. I dug an extra wide and deep plug and finally hit it with the Carrot at about 8 inches. I started digging and scooping to get the exact depth. When I finally got it out, the hole was exactly as deep as my pinpointer. 10 plus inches! For the record, most people including myself, would not make a habit of digging these signals, but today, I think I found out what the Legend's depth limit is on a penny sized coin. The coin was a 1934 wheat penny.

That may be the limit in your ground, but I think a fair bit more in mine. I've been hunting a newer (90's) park and a school from the 80's, so no old stuff yet. My two deepest coins were a clad dime and a memorial cent, both at about 8 inches (apparently fill has been added or grading done). But, this was with the 6 inch coil and both targets VDI'd at what they should and were full signals. I would think they could have been picked up at least a couple of inches deeper, AND that was with the small coil.
