It was a hot and humid day today in upstate NY, but I was able to get out for a few hours detecting with my two sons in a partially shaded park. Things were going rather slow, I was attempting to dig a high tone with my small hand digger, but failed due to some roots. I decided to dig a nickel signal about a foot away and to my surprise I see gold in the hole. A nice 14K rose gold flower and leaf pattern ring. It's weight is 4 grams. My first gold ring this year and I have dug a lot of nickel signals. My sons got a bunch of wheat cents and a war nickel. Over all a great day and we didn't get over heated.

Nickel signals are my favorites. As you see, they produce gold....and sometimes the elusive OD

Congrats on a BEAUTIFUL ring.

I agree with you on those nickel signals. I dig "nickels" (aka pull tabs) religiously; even when I don't feel like it. So far this year I've pulled three large gold rings and one gold necklace.
We have to dig "trash" and nickels if we plan on digging gold. That's just the way it is no matter how fancy a detector may be. Conductivity is pretty consistent.

I figure for every piece of gold I've dug I've dug at least 200 hundred nickel/trash signals. Besides, nothin' wrong with getting trash out of the way and picking up lots of nickels along the way. They do add up and help cover the cost of batteries.

Congrats on a fantastic find and on your persistence as well. It DOES pay off. It's just a matter of sticking with it until it does.
You earned that one and it IS a REALLY nice one. It looks like it may be old.

Congrats on your first gold ring of the year, nice looking one. As we all know and kinda dread, gotta pull the pull tabs to find the elusive gold. Last year I only dug 33 nickles, this year I've dug 164 and pull tabs are easily over 1,000, although I only have one gold to show for it this year, I'm going to keep digging them all. Good luck on finding more.

Congrats on the gold!!

I dig those nickle/pull tab hits all the time and still only have one gold for my efforts. Lol

Nice ring !! Gotta love those nickel signals !!!

Your title definitely tells the truth. Cherry pickers may get the silvers but nickel diggers get the gold!

wow that's a great nickel signal!, awesome gold ring!!

Congrats makes it well worth the effort to dig all those pull tabs and nickels
