Bomber & Murph & I went up to Lake Delton in Wisconsin on Saturday and left Sunday. We wanted to see the damage
that the draining lake had done. We also planned to get in some metal detecting while we were there. Once we got
there we were blown away at the damage. We got a room just feet from the lake; it looked like a bomb went off. All
that was left was dried and cracking mud. We hunted for a couple of hours then called it quits, finding mostly lead
fishing weights, and metal scrap.

Talking to the locals, they said the lake drained in about 2 hours!!! They also pointed us to where they think the most
coins would be. We didn't find much, but the trip was definitely worth it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole
town; on the news they said that the $1 billion tourism industry is gone. The locals are hoping that the lake will be
repaired and back to normal by next year. God I hope so...

Man, I didn't realize how bad that area was affected.
I imagine it was difficult to hunt. . . mentally. . . with all the devastation that occurred in that area :(

My wife and I were there for a little R&R only a few days before the rains hit.
That has to be a serious blow to the tourism there.
The thought of detecting the beach crossed my mind too.

Aren't those the places they showed on the weather channel as they were actually being destroyed by the water. If not, they look identical.

Actually, I work in the dells and crowds have been pretty good, don't start believin' the news !! You should have let me know, I was out there Fri & Sat.

I was on that lake last year, really makes you think. Don't count out the tourism yet. The water parks are the biggest draw. At least my kids think so.

Excuse my ignorance but I don't have a television. What exactly took place to make this lake drain in two hours? Did a dam break or something?
