So I just watched the episodes of diggers they filmed here, and I have to admit I'm more than a little jealous they got to detect the Spanish Custom House..... One thing that was really funny to me though was watching them get excited about the old Mardi Gras dubloons. I guess that's natural for someone who's detecting here for the first time and whos never seen one, but man I HATE THOSE THINGS! They always make such a nice signal and look so good in the hole. I can't tell you how many "silver dollars" have turned out to be @#$@#$#@ Mardi Gras dubloons..... I have found a few cool old ones made of brass or bronze, but those don't turn up often. Anyway guys, if you happen to read this, I have a couple coffee cans full of those evil things somewhere and you're welcome to them. These days I just toss them straight in with the aluminum for the recycling.

I never laughed so hard watching this episode. Oh yea, those doubloons do have ring to em. Curiosity was killing the rat; how did they know about the Customs House & Jean Lafitte's hide out? Did the owners notify them to get them down here or what? I think I'll go kiss a gator. :laughing7:

you can kiss a gator, but don't french kiss one. I'm just saying

Haha they were diving them left and right, I guess I'd be excited to to dig one myself if I was in Louisiana.

Shoot Ken, they should have went and hunted the park we hit. heheh. I had the opportunity to hit two plantations while I was there last year and really didnt find squat lol. Mardi Gras dubloons, they can have them. I still want to come down and hunt with you again but I am in Salt Lake City working now, so its going to be a trip to get there. TMAN...

I have been good Ken. I am in Salt Lake City freezing my butt off but other than that all is good. I am hoping the snow will melt and the ground thaws soon. I have a new battery for my etrac and am ready to do some serious hunting. Have you been out much?

Yea man I hate them too, I live by veterans and I have found so many from the metairie parades and they give such good signal it drives me nuts

Not as much as I'd like to be, I'm starting a new job and working nights now so I'll have to try to work some hunts in soon.

wheatfinder..... I think my record was about 20 of them in a day before I finally just gave up on that particular spot.....

I think you may have to wait a little longer. Were still in for more snow and if it did melt soon you would need a jackhammer to dig anything. Im hoping aeound april we can get back detecting and I can get off the frozen lakes.

Yeah Mardi Gras tokens could probably be a little passe in N'awlins but how bout this weeks show where Ringey and Kg were making bets on how many Lincoln pennies they could dig? Yawwwn.

I only watched the first 2 segments of the very 1st show ,this season .It made me want to go out and hunt right then ,so I had to stop watching. anyway have not heard the best things about the show like ,slang terms, monkeying around. YES I AM PLAYER HATING. I WANT ACCESS TO THOSE SPECIAL SITES..DANG IT!!!

I dug one in a Minnesota park a few years ago. It did sound pretty good.

Yeah, some of them are kind of neat, but they don't hold up well in the ground, and you can get them by the bucket load in junk stores around here. Most of the ones I dig that have any age to them are pretty much toast.

Here you go: First Jive Dude: Shiiiiit, maaaaan. That honky muf' be messin' mah old lady... got to be runnin' cold upside down his head, you know?
Second Jive Dude: Hey home', I can dig it. Know ain't gonna lay no mo' big rap up on you, man!
First Jive Dude: I say hey, sky... subba say I wan' see...
Second Jive Dude: Uh-huh.
First Jive Dude: ...pray to J I did the same ol' same ol'!
Second Jive Dude: Hey... knock a self a pro, Slick! That gray matter backlot perform us DOWN, I take TCB-in', man!
First Jive Dude: Hey, you know what they say: see a broad to get dat booty yak 'em...
First Jive Dude, Second Jive Dude: ...leg 'er down a smack 'em yak 'em!
First Jive Dude: COL' got to be! Y'know? Shiiiiit.

I really enjoyed the interview portion during the show, you know where they talk about the things they are finding and explaining stuff.

The mountains in the background were really cool. Next time I'm in there, I'm going snow skiing in the mountains of southern LA!

priceless
