1) The only people Gold prospecting are Foreigners
2) Milk comes in a box with a 3+ month shelf life
3) Nobody walks their dogs, they walk their roosters
4) Drivers license, who needs a stinkin' license.
5) Traffic lights. They have to have a policeman direct traffic under the lights.
6) Drinking is permitted anywhere, I mean anywhere. While driving, Walking down the street, ect....
7) Hot water is a luxury.
Cool 1.6 million motorcycles in the country, 584 thousand street legal, less than 2000 people licensed to drive them.
9) Ice, whats that?
10) Everyone owns some sort of livestock

More to come......

thanks much for the info.
how are you guys doing there with the prospecting? hope that it's working for you. take care and be safe out there. ron

i'm going to take a shot of patron, watch a movie, eat a home cooked meal,,,,,,,,,,,then take a HOT shower.........but if it makes you feel better you found more gold last week than i did!!!!! wish i was there!

Man that's some exciting stuff. What about those kidnappings we are always hearing about in the news though?

I used to have an exciting life when I was security for a dance club and two strip clubs (same owner for all the places so security got moved around when there wasnt enough staff). I miss the excitement of breaking up fights but I dont miss everyone pulling guns on us for stupid things or the random shootings.

New ones
1) very rarely see fights here, unless its 2 women
2) Everyone carries guns, even the women, but hardly ever use them
3) The police in the US don't shoot unless they have to, here they shoot at you while robbing you. ( It happened to me)
4)Most Cars run on propane, if they run
5) If it runs and will go down the road, Its legal. No pesky emissions to deal with.
6) If you drink the water here, you will be like a goose. It will go through a screen door and not get any on the mesh.
7) The average monthly wage is about 100 dollars
8) Having 400 pound prostitutes soliciting you in front of your wife
9) Laws, what are they??
10) Ever heard of Brugal, enough said

Gold pics coming soon.....Waiting on a cable so I can Download pics. We are averaging about 4-5 grams a day. Still looking for the honey hole.....

yes indeed great rum * makes a wonderful rum and coke ( stay away from both the water and the ice --the ice is made from local water often --bad bad bad-- some of the "bars" have refrigerated beer and cokes use them for mixers)--some very fine cigars there too -- the women you see fighting by and large are fighting over the men -- their "support" system -- over there its thought that if one gal has a man but is not keeping him "happy" enough that another one can steal him away --hes "fair game" -- the women attack each other rather than the man for messing around because if they get him "back" or keep him they want him "healthy" not injuried so he can work and provide for em -- if one messes with a gal down there shes "yours" and your "hers" so long as you are there (almost like being "married"--they will drive off other women -- your her "sugar daddy" and yes she will follow you about from place to place

the guns are mainly for show -- to keep others from hurting or robbing them ( but in some cases they will try to rob "rich" foreigners if the chance comes up ( hey when the chance to make a years money $ 1200 bucks from robbing a stranger who will then most likely leave the country never to be seen again -- some folks will to be good breaks -- the shooting while robbing you is to scare you into leaving the country afterward ( or they are trying to leave no wittness's and are lousy shots) so you do not stay try to "press charges" or go to the police --their govt takes a dim veiw of anyone messing with the "tourist"or "cash cows" as they see you -- so the local cops will hunt down the "robbers" and shoot them on sight unless "crooked cops" were in on it)=== be warned the police are often quite corrupt) --the reason that chickens are so "popular" is cockfighting is very popular and is often a source of both income and pride to them -- the losing cock is often cooked and eaten with a few "el presidente" beers by the cock fighter loser and his freinds

as a merchant seaman I used to be on the old sealand run -- the states to pr to santo domingo to the states again . I used to go to the "big casino" in santo domingo and play roulette there . -- being I would play a few hundred bucks during a night --I was treated like a high roller.

Jarb, Ivan even had unlimited credit at the local happy houses, both there and in the Orient. I have yet to meet another with that unique priveledge.

Nah, I aint jealous, don need no stinkin credit, just an oz of Au. however the thought ------ blushing

Don Jose de La Mancha

real de tayopa -- theres reasons why -- I get "unlimited" credit --but this is a family freindly site ,so I can't talk about it here. ---as the original " worlds most interesting man"--- Dos XX had to get the ok to do the ads about me -- ;D :icon_thumright: --- stay thirsty for life , my friend .

ivans buisiness card says---I'LL CALL YOU !

"We are averaging about 4-5 grams a day. Still looking for the honey hole....."

Is that by using gold pans only? I have a couple modern black plastic pans ...then I also have a few of those green ones too. :icon_sunny:

Mainly panning, we do use a small sluice a lot now. Didn't have it up until recently, Made it here.
