That's interesting. Maybe a coin was used as a washer in some type of machinery?

I think it's the remains of the top of a powder can or cream tube. Early to mid 20th C.

Thanks for the input. I think its silver and it came out of salt water. I didn't clean it and its not magnetic. Its about the size of a quarter and really stuck together tight. Feels heavy as well.
 

Is it reeded all the way around? If not, it could possibly be "teeth" marks from a pair of channel locks or pliers... just an observation
 

I see a silver coin with a reeded edge and now I know it's about the size of a quarter and it has a huge hole in the middle of it and it's sandwiched in with other material and one side is mushroomed out.

I have a couple of copper US 2 cent coins with a hole in the middle and you can clearly tell by the wear they were used as washers.
