Didn't know what I had/ first large cent

Didn't bother to look at this yesterday it was so compacted with dirt. Thought it was some copper or other metal that was cut by the old homeowner. Man I'm glad I didn't toss it.

A big congrats on your first Large Cent !
The US stopped minting Large Cents in 1857 but Canada still minted them up until 1920.

Get a toothpick or locust thorn and see if you can clean it up. Aren’t you down south in FL or GA? If so, it’s a long way from home.

I've been lightly picking it with my Andre pencils. Not to much detail on front but can make out the shape of the man in certain light
