Not Zippo...they mark all their cases. Do a search of American silver hallmarks. Nice one!

I think it is a 1942 . Can you post a pic of the markings on the insert?
Does the flint wheel have three grooves in it?
It is for sure between 34 and 46 because it has the 14 hole chimney.

Ok I dont think its a 42 ,early 42s were zinc then steel..
If it has a flat spring ,not a coil spring under the cam (the tab that flips up and down when open/closing lid) It is after 38
So if it has a flat spring , it would be between a 1938 and 1946 because of 14 hole chimney.
If it is made out of nickle silver, not zinc or steel (42- 45) or chromed brass all other years, it is 1946.

I have not found anything on the case markings yet But it would prob be easier if we knew what they were JNS, J S with a mark between them ? I dont know.

I found that site accidentally. I was looking up something else, and this was a link there. I call it " going off on a rabbit trail ".......NGE

Not sure why this has a green check ... unless you settled for a "no" to "Did Zippo make this sterling case?". I thought you wanted to know "who made the case and when?"

Only ones I'm familiar with are "J.S. & Co." or "J.S. Co"

A possibility ~ The "Jn" may be an abbreviation of the maker's first name, John. Not sure what the symbol under the "n" is supposed to be ... "&" or something else.
