ok here's the story...

i'm on a trip in wheeling west virginia. i brought my coinstrike and a marines knife to dig with. i got a hit on something that seems to be somewhat square with a rod sticking out of it accordng to the shape i traced in the ground while in pinpoint mode.

theres a large old tree. if you stand facing the large old tree and turn around to face a nearby hill you will be looking through two trees. the item is located between two trees, dead center. its almost too perfect and repeatable to find. unfortunately i cant dig it.

its very hard to make a large hole with only a marines knife. i was able to dig a small portion of it, the rod. its not shovel end as the rod is too thin like that of a gun barrel. i'm hoping to come back next year as a tourist and bring a shovel this time.

Why leave it & chance someone else recovering whatever it may be? Get a larger digging tool & see what it is.

lol, if your luck's like mine & you dig it it'll be something worthless.....but if you leave it, you'll read about some lucky sap who discovers the largest cache discovered in North America ;D

No. You didn't find a cache...you just found a square thing with a rod.

I would have had my backhoe out there, dug it up, and filled it in with new sod purchased at the garden shop within 45 minutes!
