From today's (4/2/09) North Section N of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
The Dickson Log House in Ben Avon, one of the oldest structures north of the Ohio River, will be open from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm April 18 and from noon to 1:30 pm May 25.
Built by William Dickson soon after the Indian Treaty of 1795, the house was discovered in 1983 under layers of siding at a home at 12 Western Ave.
The house is near the Emsworth Locks and Dam, Forest and Atlantic Avenues. It is a unique reminder of the western movement of people and goods along the pioneer days of the Ohio River.
Members of Ben Avon Area Historical Association will host the open house.
I just wanted to tie this one in with the Sewickley Ferry Crossing since it may be right in the general vicinity of the ferry.

Sounds like some good area history.
