Was doing some beach detecting and found this ring. Had trouble getting a good pick of the stone. Found under about 6 inches of beach sand and just above the high tide line. Looks like it has been there quite some time. I know the general rule is no one puts a real diamond in a non precious metal setting. The ring is toast and can't really tell what type of metal it is but doesn't appear to be any type of precious metal. That is the reason I tossed it in my pouch without giving it much thought. However when I got home and looked closer, I noticed the stone does not appear to be scratched at all after being in the sand for an apparent long time. Ordering a diamond tester and going to have it tested professionally. However was curious if anyone had any experience pulling faux diamonds out of the beach and whether they tend to be scratched all up.
