This is a ring I found yesterday. It's 7/8 karat diamond, 18K gold, it is vintage, I'm guessing it was lost in the grass 40 years ago, and the diamond is colorless with a VS-1 grade quality. I would like to get any info I can and a good asking price if I am to sell it. I know well enough it is worth a lot of money, at retail it would've gone for $4k but of course I can't get that since it is used. Any help appreciated!

This is the grading information that I got from Kay jewelers. They offered me $2k store credit!

Store credit! They are really trying to take you to the cleaners on that offer. If they gave you a $2K ring in exchange. They might have $700 bucks in the trade. Find someone who does antique appraisals. Do not deal with jewelry stores unless it was a local family business.

Thats a crazy ring. You might want to see if there is a makers mark on the thing. if they would offer you 2k for it and the jeweler here will only offer UP TO 50% or less of what its worth.

I got a very good price for it. Went to multiple jewelers and they said if I were to do eBay, then I should do $1500. However I'm selling to a relative and that would cut it down to a reasonable price of $1100. Not bad though since this pays off everything I've ever paid in metal detecting. I'm using what I can get towards a new Minelab Etrac from my favorite dealer. Rusty's gold and prospecting, I would highly recommend him! Very great guy and he loves the company in his shop.

I see they weighed it in at .81 carats.
A VS1 stone of that weight with a color clarity of "E" is charted with a value of $5400 per carat.
So approximate value would be $4374.
