Looks "field-made." Could have been anything. Some type of stabilizing piece to hold 2-3 pieces of wood/metal together? Or leather??

This is what it looked like before I attacked it with a vise and then a brass bristle brush.

Yeah, on the reales I usually use a belt sander or the Slap Chop. ::)

You know most people don't know that the Slap Chop originated to make change in merchants shops when people used Cobs to pay. :icon_pirat:

I have about five Pocket Fishermans in the original boxes too. I think they came after the Colonial cane pole? :icon_scratch:

You can usually tell as the Colonial poles had Pewter guides. Not the more modern brass, bronze, or copper.
