Can anyone help with an id (manufacturer) of this old coal shovel. With info on this I may be able to discern a date.

19.5" in length

4" scoop width

material...cast iron

what appears to be a date on handle (but it seems way too old)...1625???

Heres one similar, although the handle is a little different.

Hey Surf,

Your pics sure reminded me of my youth in Iowa, where I was intimately familiar with the cleaning of the wood burner. LOL I can smell that wood smoke right now and what a flood of memories.

Hey bw,

Yeah, takes me back, too. Some of the best meals of my young life, were cooked on a small 2 grate wood burner, and what a comforting warmth was thrown off...

Yes, Sir...I remember my Grandma saying in the old days she would use X amount of corn cobs to get to that "certain" temperature.
