Strange question, does anyone on here know or know of anyone who buys unused diabetic test strips for the purpose of gold reclamation? My father in law just passed on Tuesday and I have about 600 to get rid of and don’t want to just throw them away if it’s possible to get SOMETHING for them! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

SELL THEM ON EBAY! You can make some real money depending on the brand and expiration date. Good luck!

I was wondering why I saw signs wanting diabetic test strips. Now I know.

American Diabetes Association may be able to help... I WAS Type II; now not, don't need no mo "Pricks". Thank Gxd!

Sorry for the loss of your FIL.
Wow, I never knew they had gold in them... huh!
Never would have even thunk it. :dontknow:
I would have said to give them to someone who's poor,
that may need them. Learn something new everyday....

There are a few people who buy them, they are not worth it small scale. IIRC, it takes 1000 strips to get .1 grams of gold. That's like $6.30. I do wish you luck. It is fun to recover it yourself.

Submerge what you have in Hydrochloric acid, aka muriatic acid.

Pour in about 10% of that volume worth of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Add an air stone and wait 30-60 days.

Glove up and remove the strips, the gold foils will stay behind.

Rinse WELL.

then filter through a coffee filter to catch your gold and rinse well.

Do all of this outdoors
