I have the Sunray DX-1 probe on my DFX and I love it. i love the fact that the tones are the same on the probe as the main coil and they come right through your headphones. The Sunray may be a little deeper than the Propointer but not that much. I like to also use the trigger forward on the DFX and have the VCO on the probe. I will probably buy another one for the MXT some day but I think its more effective on the DFX.

The Sunray probe works with your detector just like your search coil but it is only a 1" coil. I have one on my XLT and one on my VX3 and would use no other pin pointer. It detects 3 to 4 inches on most coin sized objects. You can use it on discriminate or all metal modes. I have never noticed any battery drain and keep in mind, its power comes from your detector power.

I had the probe on my MXT for a short time but switched back to my Pro Pointer - I did not like the added weight plus it is a PIA if you use it to locate a target and then forget to switch back to the search coil mode - you end up doing a "silent search" for a few minutes before realizing that you forgot to flip the switch on the probe (I was guilty of that a few times).

I have done that too !! It does take some getting use to but I like it. I don't really notice any weight change on the MXT or the DFX but I know it does add a little weight. It's just all personal preference. Handheld Pinpointers are good too.

I have the Sunray inline pinpointer on my whites coinmaster for a year now and love it.

I've got one on my MXT and it's by far the most useful and deep probe I have compared to the Garrett and Treasuremate.

I will put in my 2 cents for what it worth. I had a sunray on my V3i and couldn't stand it. Have to switch it on and off with the box on the shaft, stupid cord always in the way and gets hung on everything if you hunt in the woods. Only got 1-2" of depth with the sensitivity I typically hunt at so to get more depth you have to turn the sense up. No rachet capability like a PP to zero in on a small target and you have to switch to pinpoint mode on the detector if you don't want to use it like a small coil in motion mode. It is just way easier to me to use a handheld PP and a lot faster. What ever you decide though good luck!
