I like running my DFX hot full sensitivity. I'm used to a lot of chatter from my At Pro

Where is your Preamp gain set?

Four

Man you are better than me !! What kind of AC Sensitivity are you running on four. I usually have to drop mine down to the 60's before it will settle down on four. I can usually stay in the 70's on 3 but it is still on the border of stability. What ground filters are you running?

Mac, you may want to give this a try, not that I have experience with doing it yet but seem like it makes sense.
gist of it is highest Preamp with AC at 70 or more and stable quite operation for best depth

I don't care if it's noisy and I get better depth, I also am getting the 14" DD acelerator coil from Detech

There is another book on the DFX byJohn A. Harris called DFX Spectrum & XLT Best Custom Programs. It's very easy reading and makes a lot of sense. He covers each setting and what is actually the best for getting depth. Then he has 3 custom programs for Audio discriminate, All metal and mixed mode. When I run his programs the machine is a lot stabler and I can run more sensitivity. I have digging deeper with the DFX, and the set of program cards both of these when I load the programs I get really unstable. S far only got one good signal with the standard coil and that was a 9 inch down nickel token from 1903
