If you guys use a spreadsheet program like ms works spreadsheet; here is one I made specifically for editing and making your own custom programs to save or print. send me a pm or email if you want it. [email protected]

Using someone else's program might be a good starting point, but the key in getting the best performance from the DFX is to understand how to set it up for your local conditions. A case in point is that in several of those programs the DC Gain is set at 3. In some environments you will be able to run in at 4 so why not set it for maximum performance if your conditions allow it? Other times you might be in a very noisy environments (rf wise) and have to set it at 2.

Another way to look at this is supposed his ground is very mineralized and yours has very little mineralization, why add a bunch of filtering that you don't need?

I have had my DFX for just under a year now. When I first got it I set up a beach program I copied from someone else - actually it may even be the one in the above list. I did ok with it, but about a month ago when I first got to the beach, I went thru every setting in the machine and tweaked it according to the methods described in Jeff Foster's book and I swear I am getting 3 inches more in depth now. It has really been paying off in finds .... Here are a couple from last Sunday.

So true SteveP. Many want to try something new thinking it will get them more goodies when in fact if they slowed down and over lapped sweeps more they would get the field over more targets at deeper depths. You have to unerstand what the controls really do to affect operation.

Following some of these "special programs" is akin to following your buddies advice on getting dates with wormen. An you know how he's doing. :laughing7:
