I have a few questions regarding my DFX 300 and it's performance. How important is it to run the DFX stable? By stable I mean with an uninterrupted smooth threshold. It seems that more often than not, in order for me to have a smooth threshold I have to run the DFX with a preamp gain of maybe 2 and AC sensitivity in the low 70s. I have no doubt that running the detector with the settings is sacrificing depth. Is it really that detrimental to performance if I run the unit a bit more "hot"? There will likely be more blips in the threshold and some occasional fall saying I would assume, but wouldn't the true targets come through as well? If anyone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. I want to get the best performance I can out of the DFX.
