DFX 300 on the sand

The DFX does a very good job on the beach. Being a dual freq machine it transitions from wet to dry sand, goes deep, and will pick up very small targets like earrings and toe rings. I used one in St Augustine one year and found 16 rings in a week. It does a really good job on gold you just have to find the lanes on the beach and dig those targets. Yes the coil is waterproof... most are anymore, but dont get the box wet. Id suggest you use a cover on the box and dont raise the coil above the box if you get the coil wet. Wipe it down good each time you come off the beach you will feel the salt water on the rods. I was digging small stuff at about 12 inches in the sand. Remember to take off you coil cover if you put it in water to clean out the water and sand because it will affect the GB and get noisy on you. Swing it slow and dig everything. HH

hey cool. thanks for thr info. i was wanting to get the beach hunter 300 from whites so i wouldnt have to worry about it getting wet, but my wife seems to think it will be only a beach md, and thus doing us no good at home. Our local whites dealer told me it was for backyards as well as the beach, but my wife is skeptical, and in the whites book they gave us, it only states beach.
