I made it to the park that I found the Indian Head Penny and other Wheat pennies. I had been itching to get back ever since. I spent almost 5 hours there searching. I got one wheatie. I was a little bummed to say the least. There are so many bottle caps. Some ring in very nice. I feel like I can hear the scratch telling me bottle cap and I try to call them if I think its a bottle cap, but sometimes i'm picking them out of a really trashy area with so much other sound so I did them.

With that said. It was very, very noisy. I was struggling pinpointing when I did hear a tone I liked. My gut feeling is that there is good stuff there, but today I struggled. I also need to get my shovel ordered. My handheld Homedepot special isn't cutting it anymore.

I tried a few programs, frequencies, silencer settings as well, but I keep going back to silencer -0

I copied someones program that was recommended for coins and it really quiets everything down which is what I needed in the end, but I feel like the trash or some tones get clipped or masked. I'm babbling now....

No doubt, I'll keep swinging and hopefully everyday I'll get more confident with the Deus! Back to the videos. I see there are a couple new ones that I subscribed to.

Cheers,

Scott

first off take a deep breath and calm down. So you want to coin hunt trashy parks. Ok when I started I dug tons of trash and still do as I dig everything relic hunting BUT in doing all this digging I can go to the park and the majority of the time I can call a coin before I dig. The moral of that story is give yourself sometime I struggled some with the deus too had good luck first few times out and THEN started struggiling and one day it clicked and the rest is history and it will happen for you. Bottle caps are tough but some of them are given away by the audio like you said and I bet the more you hunt you will figure them out. I have a style of hunting thats really simple I have a hy iron, med iron and deep relic program all my programs run 0 discrim except my deep program which has 1. I use full tones on all my programs from the begining I did this. Heres my though on constantly changing programs it will throw you off because the machine behaves differently everytime you change it. If you run the sifter in the heavy trash and cant stand the noise bump the discrim to 5 and see if that helps any. I will say this hunting trash infested sites is a noisy game and it will give you ear or signal fatigue after awhile. Now some discrim and notch and all that type stuff to quieten it down and avoid junk but there are trade offs in doing so and that might suit you but I dont because I need to HEAR it all in my style of hunting. After you spend hundreds of hours on your machine and dig thousand targets you will get the feel, what im saying is it takes time. I will say this be careful in switching audio all the time as each one has its on nuance. hh OMT that pinpoint feature imo would be very hard to use in a HIGH trash enviroment I do the wiggle method but of course im not hunting a park where I have to be on my best behavior maybe some of the park hunters will chime in and tell you some pointers on that issue.

I just went on a few hour hunt and ran my disc to 5 it quieted the iron down some and helped me find some masked targets I was hunting in the thick stuff.

I hear what you're saying in the first post. I have my 11 and 12 slot set up for my hunting style differing only by freq. I loaded someone's "quiet" program in the 13 slot and I try it when I'm done so to speak.

Today I rinsed off the coil and went to a 6 inch I buried in my yard a few months ago and it hit hard on it in almost every setting I tried. That actually helped me a lot. Makes me think I'm not just missing everything.

No doubt I'll learn the machine. I'm stubborn that way. Thanks for the comments.

you will I have no doubt and you will learn the audio so well you will know just about when its a good target by it.

I hunt a park that's THICK with bottlecaps...a majority of them sound like silver quarters to me. The wiggle back trick, or listening for the odd crackle does not help me much, so I do the frequency change trick and that saves me every time. Am I missing a masked target here and there? Maybe, but there's no way I can handle digging up that many bottlecaps. The good news is that with a 9 inch coil and reactivity 3 and silencer -1, I'm pretty certain I'm not missing very much at all. (4Khz will give a higher VDI than 12Khz if it's a bottlecap--which is the opposite if it were a silver quarter). Good luck!
