I've been having my Deus for over a year and haven't been hunting a lot due to my job. Well I just bought the 9.5 x 5 Elliptical HF coil for it and was running it at 28 KHZ when I took it to a friends house which was built in 1910. I picked up a few Memorials, a dime and a Quarter along with a small bit of trash since I was only digging high VDI targets. Well that was the pouch finds, my keeper box had in it by the end of the hour and a half hunt a 1946 silver Washington Quarter, a 1952 Wheatie, a small round piece of lead painted green, for reference it was the size of a small cuff button and last but not least was a 1932 New Orleans Mardi Gras Doubloon, "Krewe of "ALLA". Not much to some of y'all but I'm trying to learn my machine and I'm slowly getting there. Thanks for taking a peek... "D"

Nice Silver is nice silver, even if it's sideways!
I believe the round piece of lead painted green is from a roofing nail? They used to cap roofing nails with lead in the old days to keep water from seeping into the roof. Many modern roofing nails have a small rubber gasket that performs the same function.

Kinda what I was thinking, thanks for the input, I appreciate it... "D"

Digging some silver always makes for a great digging day. Congrats on the new coil and the silver, D!

That's a nice piece of silver Possum. The Deus is a great machine, and very versatile. If you have a chance to attend one of the "Deus boot camps" run by Andy Sabisch, do it. Andy's a great teacher and extremely knowledgable. As a new Deus owner, I went to one a couple of years ago, and found it super helpful.

Congrats on your first Deus Silver and the cool Token !

Once you get more familiar with your Deus you might want to consider loading Gary Blackwell's - "Sifter Program".
It's a program for hunting in iron infested areas but I've used it on over 90% of all types of hunts over the last 5 years.
Only hits 6" to 7" down but the good targets really stand out - many hundreds of great finds with this program !

Good Hunting !

Congratulations on the nice silver find. I agree that the green lead piece is from a roofing nail, but it was not for a normal shingle roof. The lead head nails were used on corrugated tin. My father was a builder and I have used them on a number of tin jobs as well as my own shed. A tin roof was much more common when I was a kid in the 50’s and metal is making a comeback. Stay safe and keep swingin.

If your going to learn that machine, digging high VDI's is a very bad idea. I've had silver hit at 03 & '--'.
