Every year I start my season by detecting my small backyard. Without stopping to analyze, I'd say it takes about 5 minutes to scan the whole yard, that's how small it is. I've scanned it MANY times, with my AT Pro, E-Trac and Deus. I had never found any older coins in it, just clad. Every square foot in my backyard is filled with iron, and the Deus sounds like a machine gun when scanning it.

Instead of trying out various programs like I usually do, I decided to stick with the program that is best for these conditions, the trash program I got from Andy S. Within minutes I got a sketchy penny signal. To my surprise, it was a 1903 IHP about 3 inches down! Now, it was fairly roached and crusty, and I certainly have found them in much better condition, but this one is special because it represents how the Deus is capable of finding great targets that get missed.

I still cant get over how the Deus keeps finding stuff over sites I've hit many, many times even with the same detector. I got a video to add to my last post which shows me having trouble finding the signal among the trash that I had just found a few seconds before. I guess these sites are just so loaded with rubbish that you need to be dead on the target for the separation to happen. Hence the reason Deus ought to come out with a small coil. 4 x 6 sounds good.

Yes even with the 9" coil attached. Some targets are just so hidden, everything has to mesh. Coil placement, direction of sweep, speed of sweep, is there any noise, coil height above ground, are you in fact listening. Some targets to be found yes all the planets, moons and stars have to be aligned. And this is on targets the Deus with 9" coil is very capable of detecting. And yes I feel a smaller coil would reduce some of the variables I mentioned above. A 5x8 would do it I'm thinking.

Nice snag! Curious... what were your settings?

Thats the inspiration I need!!!!!
