I guess I'm selling out! I resisted, but the desire to have one more new detector to try out (for free) is just too much to resist any longer!

Back in the early 80's I used a long thin screwdriver with the end dulled to pin point the target.

Here's a pretty good explanation of the method. This has been discussed here before, but basically it has become a forgotten art.

I think those illustrations are in my Fisher 1235-x manual, pretty cool.
 

I used a screwdriver as a probe until I got my first electronic pin pointer.....a TinyTec.....which I still have, and it still works fine.
