Probably a dumb question, but here goes...

Saw where a small hoard of Gold Sovereigns were found at this year's Detectival.
So it is safe to assume this is not a "planted hunt"?!?

Anyone here ever been to one?

Hard to say really.
Has this Detectival had hoards being dug up on previous years?
There's shady operators in every venue.
Planted finds in the special fields that produce copious amounts of finds.

They pick the field, not the group.

Seen results of some tours where they dig a medieval crotal bell fresh out of the dirt and it rings.🤣

I still haven't had one ring in digging over 100 of them unless washed and the mud carved out first.

So that proves that it was a planted recovery.

Yes hoards happen and isn't a plant.

Just from doing 8 tours, maybe a 1000 hrs of detecting on different sites.

Never was there when a hoard happened, but there was a pre/post event.

Get references, actual feedback from folks that have gone on a tour/detecting event.

The one club that I belong to is legit.
