I started detecting the Privy dirt not long ago. my friend would throw the dirt out onto the tarp and I would run my detector over it to see what was in it. the first couple of times I found a brooch and a button. recently I found an 1876 seated quarter. last weekend we found more relics detecting than we did bottles. the pit was from 1830's and here are a couple things I found.

Killer silver!

Those are some nice finds. You might want to use a sifter as well so you can pick up small non metallic items that are easily over looked. Clay marbles, beads etc. Good luck!

Cool finds bud for sure................................HH

Nice finds !!! I'm a button dummy,,what is it,,military ???

Thanks ! I would have fallen face first if I had found something that old. Congrats !!

Boy, that coin has had a rough life! Get worn out, beat up, and end up in a privy.....I guess I shouldn't talk.....I've have a night or two like that too! :laughing7:

thanks everyone for the replies so far.

KILLER Jackson Button. I'd much rather have that than the half dime...although the Capped is nice too. ;)

Cheers,

Buck

we use electrolysis on the half dime but we didn't use it on the button because it would remove the gold gilt

Some nice finds there! I would keep looking. :-)
