Detecting New Orleans advice.

I just got a garret at pro and am looking for some advice for detecting New Orleans. Spots, where is legal to detect, tips for working very trashy areas because as you can imagine there are a billion nails, and any other good tips for research resources ect. The heat has deterred me from getting out too much my backyard yielded an old Mardi Gras doubloon so far.
