Detecting in back of a WOT Coil.... Proves you don't get it all... LOLOL

Went back a few days ago, to an area that we found last week to be cut more than the norm....It has been beat to death lately by quite a few guys using the WOT coil and Sword... The Minelab CTX 3030 kicks A** plain and simple... It started out slow for me but saw that my friend got some silvers rather quickly... I stayed focused, but was trying to locate my own spot... In the meantime we met up somewhere in the middle and as I was talking and digging, I looked down in my scoop and staring back at me was a huge Gold Ring with a beautiful red stone.... size 13 1/2 ...OK now I was rocking... Walked away and another low tone.... I love it when they come back to back, this time in the scoop was a tooth... LOLOL Are you kidding me?... It was heavy and ugly... Put it deep in the pouch and on my way... Things were getting good for my friends...Silver here and a Gold there... Then I found 2 Mercury Dimes. Then a Sterling Religious medal...as always I rechecked the hole and another tone, this time it was a Gold Signet Ring dated 7-4-43 Three Gold in any one day, and I am one Happy Guy.... I couldn't believe it , How did they miss that? Two more silver dimes and a few Wheaties to top off a great hunt with great company... It just don't get any better than that... Happy Hunting.... 18 K tooth.JPGOctober 14 2013 (3).JPGOctober 14 2013 (18).JPGOctober 14 2013 (31).JPGOctober 14 2013 (36).JPGOctober 14 2013 (22).JPGOctober 14 2013 (23).JPGOctober 14 2013 (12).JPG

You know Whydah, I had a strange event on the beach the other day while hunting over the wet sand with 12 x 15 sef. I got a pretty faint signal and proceeded to go after it, not sure just how deep it was but I'm guessing around 16 inches or thereabouts. Anyway, when I finally got it the scoop was full of crushed shell so I dumped it on the wet sand and spread it out with my foot and I made a few passes over it, but instead of the signal being stronger now, it was actually still pretty faint, even though I could see that dime laying flat in the crushed shell. After a few moments of raising and lower my coil I was stumped to discover that I lost the dime altogether at about 7 inches, yet when I dropped it back into the bottom of the hole from where it came I could read it again, even pinpointing it easily. :dontknow: Beats me, left me completely stumped as to what that was all about? Very strange indeed.

You had a good day and some nice scores for sure.

We had a great day buddy thanks for the lesson! Looks like that ugly ol' tooth shined up nice - maybe you'll be sportin' a new grill next time out!:laughing7:

Still can't believe the size of that ring! Must have fallen off of Magilla Gorilla!

I have had similar events like that...I call it the hallow effect...after time the object leaves residew in the surrounding area and makes the object larger in diameter... I still can't figure why after getting it out of the hole and passing over it, it seems to disappear. It mostly happens with dimes and very old nickels....

The few times this has happened to me it seems the items maintained almost a creamy coffee color, not really a shade of red/rust but just a strange looking, very smooth brownish stain/tint. :dontknow:

POW! Whydah you are the man! Love the Big Red!

This happens because of the field effect on the coin as the detector doesn't get the normal back reading. The reason we miss coins sometimes.

You have skills!!!

Holy cow, nice hunt and come to think of it that ring my have come off a cow.

Magilla here heard you found my ring LOL nice saves.

I agree with that statement... possibility of the way I overlapped the area also... I gridded the heck out of it and pulled more out of there again the other day...

Great job! I need to find the sweet gold spot on my detector!! Nice saves!!!
