Not only will stuff silt over some but the stuff will sink some on it's on. We relic hunt on a CW site that has the mushiest ground in the world. Ground gets wet or it floods and the ground softens up and stuff sinks. We find bullets a foot or better deep. We have to go slow and listen for the faintest signals. We would find more stuff if we used head phones but it's so dang hot you cant wear 'em. Bullets sink more than buttons, j hooks etc because they weigh more...d2

Agreed...
Tried 2 places in different counties that had history back 100 yrs or more. One was along a river and the other a medium sized creek. Both sites had surface trash but lots of silt, maybe a foot deep in some areas.
I thought maybe the flooding would have washed the silt away....but I was wrong.
