A good friend of mine was on vacation over the 4th and lost his wedding band there in Destin. It is only a 10K band, but with much sentimental value and needless to say, his wife is wearing him out over it!

I told him I'd put the word out among the area surf looters, if he gave directions. Here they are:
"You cross 98 where Avalon Blvd intersects, go to the Avalon beach access, and walk straight forward to the Gulf of Mexico. I lost the ring in about 2 feet of water near the shoreline. I'm counting on you!"

Also he sent them as mapquest coordinates, too:

I have little more than that to go on and I know that is precious little. But a midsized 10K band is a trifling thing and if one were to turn up magicallly, what a happy bloke he'd be ;)

If anyone has any luck with this, please PM me with details.
Thanks beyond thanks to all you salty surf dogs for your attention.

Good Luck!

I don't hunt there, yet ;D , but I'm sure some on TN do. I feel fairly confident they would return it if found, we have good people here.

Mostly good people. Otherwise you may have just given someone a free ring.

Don't forget, there are many guests to this site but not all of them post.

Sorry, that's just my cynical nature talking so I honestly hope he gets his ring back because some good soul did the right thing.

Sometimes, you just have to take that risk. But it's a valid point, one I hadn't considered... I dont tend to think that way.

I'm just helping out my respected pal by posting the notice. Besides, lets face it - even at todays gold prices, the ring is next to worthless. I wanted to rescue him from the doghouse as much as anything.

If someone reads this, finds that trinket of a 10K ring and goes into an apoplectic fit of greed over it, then so be it. With any luck, they'll do us all a favor and choke on it.

That's just me...skeptical and cynical. But hopefully it will go the other way and your friend will be happy and his wife will be happy.

Indeed, lets hope so. If push comes to shove, maybe someone will turn one loose from their collection and send it to him!

Now don't go overboard there. ;)

If push comes to shove his best bet is to march on down to the jewelry store and pick up a lookalike ring and go...."OMG, Look Honey, I found it!"

Actually, I had hoped to find one myself to give to him. But, so far, no such luck.

A 10K band wouldn't be worth much even if you could cash out a single ring... It might as well go to him as sit in my box. Good plan, one that might build a little needed karma.

So far, I have turned up 9 rings in the last month or so, none of which are the common 10K mans ring. Go figger.
