Desert Search

In Theory if the vein was rich enough that could work. You would have to research the area, a lot of them are very small thin gold stringers. If I had the money I would invest in one of the newer Pulse Induction or Gold Specific detectors before a Two box for gold prospecting.

The old style two box detectors were mainly used by utility companies. If your looking to mainly detect quartz veins, then the White's GMT or the Gold Bug 2 are a good bet.If the ground is hot and/or your looking for deep gold(placer or lode) then the Minelabs are a better choice.

I've tried a two-box in the desert and worthless. What they need to come up with is a Pulse Induction Two-Box,now that would work real well. I'm going to make my own.

Two box systems work great in the desert for finding old buried cars, drums of dumped chemicals, abandoned equipment parts, cable and batteries.

Digging every target takes on a whole new meaning with a two box system. Six foot holes take a long time to dig and at that depth the gold nugget would need to be the size of a breadbox.

If you are prospecting for gold with a detector follow Dave's advice.

"Think small"

That might GB2 is a mighty tool for finding veins and concentrations. It just takes some patience and thought to key in on the hot areas that will continue to produce..
