Detector(s) used

Long story short I bought a guys whole sluicing setup today. Sluice, pans classifiers, a power pan. pretty much everything needed to start sluicing. Question is what are the rules around here. AKA are they as ridiculous as with metal detectors in parks? Where are there some good places to go? I got this setup to go u into the mountains this summer but I would like to try it out this week.

anyplace on the south platte is good. the only restrictions i can think of is no machinery. sluicing is ok except in wheatridge. i went out today on clear creek at federal and this is what i got after 3hrs.

What kind of sluice? What is a power pan? one of those spinny things? (do you get vertigo looking hard for gold with that thing spinning? LoL
post some pics!

Also thats some nice gold Tweeta!
I'd recommend a book for you, as well:
Gold Panning and Placering in Colorado, how and where
by Ben H. Parker Jr.

It tells of everything you are looking for, plus info like a gulch up in the mountains where they were pulling 41 OUNCES of gold per cubic yard of dirt.
Dear lord let me find one of those cubic yards undisturbed... :)

I think its named ford gulch now (was formerly the n word gulch).

yup, 'cause Barney Ford was a black prospector and entrepreneur who did very well in the early days of Breckenridge :) They have a statue of him in Breck and you can tour his house too. A miner worth remembering indeed!

Lots of spots to dig in metro Denver. One of the best is the new Arapahoe Bar Prospecting Park ...just west of I-70 and north of the Youngfield Exit. Good gold and warm water all winter due to the creek being used to cool the freshly brewed beer! The creek water is 55-60 degrees all winter!!

I also always encourage Denverites to confirm ownership (via county assessor web site) and then sample the creeks closest to home!

Thanks "tweeta bear" for a showing a realistic take !

Oh, how I hate the rules of what you can and cannot do.
Personally, I can only dream that if you only soaked it for just a little bit more!
I can see a picker or a nugget not too far away

Keep it up.

Makes you wonder why someone would just all of a sudden sell of all of their equipment.
It had to be his wife!

All you need now is a 7 amp hour 12volt battery and your in business.

It was his wife and I figure my trolling motor battery will work just fine.
