Jim in DE had posted a day or so ago about some things I told him about that have been found in Delaware that aren't supposed to be here.
Roman coins have been found(not Greek). These could have been on colonial ships or there are lost earlier vessels that haven't been properly documented yet.
There are approximately 3,000(not 4,000) shipwrecks in Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Coastline per Schumet(might have the spelling wrong).
In 1887 the Army Corps was dredging the lower part of the St.Jones River, south of Dover(not the Delaware River) when they discovered what they described as an Egyptian Vessel(not Greek).. this was written up in Delaware Estuary News Spring edition 1992 pg 5.
One fact remains of the St. Jones discovery: Lotus lilies still grow in the upper reaches of the river.. They only are found in the Nile River in Eqypt and one other place in the world(that I don't know where).
1888 A painting titled "Lotus Lilies" by Charles E. Curran (1861-1942) Shows two Vicorian dressed women sitting in a row boat surrounded by you guessed it, Lotus Lilies.
There is also a town in Ohio, I believe called Little Egypt.. Thousands of egyptian artifacts were supposedly found there and housed in a museum till one day the curator took them all to the dump and had them steam rolled.. Anyone else who knows about this want to comment.?

That is very interesting information you have there. If the Vikeings could get here, anyone else with a little courage and gumption ( same thing? ) could have gotten here as well.
Unfortunately, main stream archeology doesn't consider it unless something can be found that takes it out of the realm of speculation. They usually take a skeptical stance , which is not a bad thing, and wait for more solid finds to come along. There is a magazine on the new stands called Ancient America. Its an interesting magazine but sometimes the articals seem a bit farfetched. It is possible that the Vikeings could have brought them ove. Speculations are fun arn't they?

hey wink, check out a book called Michigan's pre history's mysteries. deals with the copper culture, Phoenician coins on isle royal, in lake superior, Celtic prayer stones found in the ford river, roman swords, norman axes, the book talked about Michigan's copper being found in Egypt, 3 year round journy brought by the Phoenicians, the book is a collaboration of finds outside of the mainstream Arch. i couldn't put the book down. covers more than Mi.. Ive also read the Chinese where here a little be for Columbus, on the greatlakes and down the Mississippi river. i think there is a lot more history in the states than people think
