Delaware "Coin Beach" Hunt. Anyone interested?

I would like to know if anyone is interested in going on a day excursion to "Coin Beach" in Delaware?
I go there a bunch to md, scoop shells, fish, swim, or just enjoy the ocean and thought about putting together a hunt. I figured it would be fun and we could cover more area as a group. Plus a little "meet and greet".
Let me know if you would like to go and maybe some ideas, tentative dates, ect. Best time is, obviously, low tide and a water proof md is best. The surf does get rough. Though small, these chest deep waves are constantly pounding against you. I personally do not own a water proof md, but still can get into the "trough" when it's dead-low-tide. Be aware that there is a lot of walking.
Thanks all.

Sure. I am interested. Only real problem is I live in North Wilmington. What date or time do you have in mind?

I have a flexible schedule, so anytime is good. However, I did want to go after Labor Day to dodge the heavy traffic and give others time to decide if they wanted to join us.

Wow looks like a great beach. But I am 11 hours from there. I was planing my next vacation for that way for next year......Matt

I'm seriously thinking of heading down to Coin Beach Monday morning after I get off work, and after Hurricane Irene heads up the coast. If I do go, I won't get there till late Monday, but I'm off the rest of the week so I got plenty of time to detect. I've been there many times BUT never after a hurricane. This COULD be interesting after a major storm. Anybody wanna meet down there? Let me know..........Rich

I was thinking the same thing for Sunday but I have way too much going on to actually make it..should be good detecting after the storm. Good luck to anyone that goes and let us know how you make out.

I am heading there Sunday about high noon from Maryland. Should be there about 3pm if there are no problems with the roads. I will park in the lot on the north side of the inlet or the lot at the life saving station if it is open. I will also be there Monday, maybe longer if the pickins are good.
I will be the one with the surfmaster PI and the bulldog on his shirt. Frank

I got called in to work Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday therefore I can't make the trip. Let us know how you made out Frank, and how Coin Beach looks after the storm. I hope some goodies washed ashore. I hope you took some pics. Good detecting..............Rich

I'd be interested to know how bad the erosion is down there. We're about 3 hours from Ocean City, and last few times I went down after a hurricane cut, I didn't find anything of interest. Never know what you'll find though!

I may be going down this coming weekend for a couple of days and try my luck.

You guys are to late. there was only a couple of hundred on the beach and I just cashed it in. There were no coins found the two days after the storm and the dunes are gone, replaced by puddles. At least those biting flies are gone.
Here's your consolation prize. The Md state parks have been closed to detecting all summer. THEY OPEN ON THE 6TH. I will be at assateaque on opening day TUESDAY, Wed, Thurs. Cherry picking time!!! Frank

Re: Delaware "Coin Beach" Hunt. Anyone interested?

Frank.......did you see any other detectorists on Coin Beach?

Oh well, my vacation starts on the 12th to the 18th, and I'm heading down Ocean City, MD for the annual DELMARVA BIKE WEEK, but first I always stay a night a Rehobeth and head over to Coin Beach. Should be there detecting either Wednesday(14th) or the 15th Thursday. I'll take some pics..................Rich
