We are planning a Delaware beach trip for October. Our main focuses will be metal detecting, shell and rock collecting, and some biking. We will have our dog with us so are thinking of camping in the RV and would tow a car. We would consider a rental if oceanfront. Those of you who metal detect the beaches there, which beaches would you recommend? We are familiar with Lewes, Bethany, and Rehoboth, but not from a md perspective. Any help anyone could provide is much appreciated!

There is coin beach. An old shipwreck off the coast floats up coins every time a big storm comes through......

I've read that beach reconstruction over the years has put more trash (shrapnel from military target practice, fishing sinkers, etc) on that beach, making finding desirable targets much more difficult. I haven't been to coin beach but this might be the time to give it a try. I don't have any sinkers in my meager treasure collection.
